Class Discussion ~ Newton's Laws in your life

During our unit on energy and forces, we have investigated how objects move. All objects on Earth obey Newton's Laws of Motion. In class we have practiced examples and watched videos to illustrate the 3 laws.

Your task due no later than Friday, December 6:
Reply to this post explaining how one of Newton’s three Laws of Motion is applied in your daily activities. 
      ~ Be sure to include what the activity is and how the law affects it.

  1. Newton's first law states that all objects in motion or at rest will stay that way unless acted upon by an outside force. This applies to me because I sit on the couch every day. I stay on the couch unless I choose to get up, which involves me using an outside force.

    2. Newtons 1st Law applies to me everyday without me even knowing it. The law states that objects in motion stay in motion, while on the other hand, objects at rest stay at rest. When I'm outside playing football, the ball stays in motion until it is stopped by the person who is catching it. If the ball was not caught, that would leave the ball to stay in motion.

  2. Newton's first law says that objects in motion stay in motion and objects at rest stay at rest. This applies to me when I use the computer because unless I choose to stop using it, I continue to use it.

  3. When roll someone a ball in gym, I'm using Newton's first law. The ball rolls across the floor and stays in motion until someone else or the wall stops it and that is the outside force that stops it from moving. If it didn't, the ball would never stop rolling and stay in motion.

  4. I use the Newton's first law in everyday life. Newtons first law is that objects in motion will stay in motion. Objects at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an out side force. This applies when a kick a soccer ball. When I kick it in the air, it moves through the air until gravity brings it back down. When I kick it through the grass, the ball rolls until the friction applied by the grass stops the ball in its tracks. Therefore, I use Newtons First Law in everyday life.

  5. Newton's first law states that an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. An activity I do in my everyday life is field hockey. When I hit the ball with my stick it keeps rolling until another person or force stops it. However, no matter how hard I hit the ball it will eventually stop moving because the grass will stop it. Therefore, field hockey is an example of how Newton's first law applies to me.

  6. I use Newton's second law in everyday life. Newton's second law of motion says that acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object). I use it on Wii Sports to play tennis, baseball, and golf. In fact, everyone uses Newton's second law, in sports like tennis, volleyball, badminton, hockey, baseball, golf and other sports. Each object that you're trying to hit requires a force to send it over a certain distance. That is how I use Newton's second law in everyday life.

  7. Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I use this law when I am playing with a ball. The ball is resting on my hand until I push on it to throw it.

  8. I use Newton's first law almost every day. This law explains that an object in motion, stays in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless if it's affected by an outside force. Newton's first law is used when I play my oboe. My fingers move to play the notes. When my fingers stop moving, I have used an outside force to stop them. In result, I use Newton's first law (in this example) almost everyday.

  9. An everyday activity that can apply to Newton's first law of Motion is riding a bike. When riding a bike, it uses Newton's first law because once the bike is in motion, it stays in motion, unless wind (outside force) slows the bike down. Wind would be considered an outside force because it's pushing against me when I ride my bike which can slow me down. I addition, if I were to hit my breaks, it would create friction between the wheels and the concrete. Therefore, riding a bike can apply to Newton's first law of Motion.

  10. I use Newton's 1st law in everyday life. When I play with my dog, I throw her ball. If not acted on by an external force, the ball would keep moving. Instead, she catches the ball, or pounces on it which stops its movement. Once the ball stops, it supports Newton's law that an object at rest stays at rest until acted on by an unbalanced force. The unbalanced force would be either me or my dog picking up the ball to continue playing. Once it is thrown it continues going in that direction and speed until it is caught again, which supports the law of motion that an object in motion stays in motion until joined by an opposing force.

  11. I use Newton's Laws of Motion in everyday life. One that I use is in everyday life is the First Law of Motion: An object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest until an outside force is exerted upon the object. This law applies to when I ride bike because the wheels on my bike continue to move until friction slows them down or I hit the brakes. To start again I have to push off and petal.

  12. The Second Law of Motion states that the acceleration( rate of speeding up or slowing down) of an object depends upon the mass of the object and the force acting upon it. For instance, it is easier for me to push a grocery cart than for a infant to push a grocery cart.

  13. Newton's law of motion are applied to my everyday activities. When i do my homework is an example of when these laws are applied. I think that the first law is applied here. When i use a pencil to write my answers down I’m using a force and I’m writing down the answers at around the same speed. I wont stop writing until another force is used. For example this could be me putting the pencil down or me getting pushed and dropping the pencil. In conclusion i needed a force to start moving the pencil and another one for me to put the pencil down. If I wanted to change the direction of which i was writing in i would also need another force. In conclusion that is a daily activity i do in which newton's law of motion is applied.

  15. In my everyday activities, Newton’s Laws of Motion occur. One thing I do every day is play field hockey. Newton's first law of motion (an object in motion will stay in motion, while an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by another force) is a common occurrence in field hockey. I am a goalie, and when a ball is shot towards me, it will keep on going unless I become a force and stop it. Also, play starts with a motionless ball. The field hockey ball would stay motionless until hit by a player. Overall, Newton's laws of motion play an important role in my daily activities.

  16. Newton's first law of motion applies to me: an object in motion will stay in motion and an object in rest will stay in rest unless acted on an outside force. An example is playing on an air hockey table. When you hit the puck it will move in a straight line until it hits the edge. If you hit too hard it will obviously fly off the table. In this example Newton's First Law of motion applies to me.

  17. Newton's Laws of Motion can easily apply to everyday life. In my life, Newton's first law of motion applies quite a lot. For example, when I perform in plays, this law applies. An object in motion will stay in motion; An object at rest, will stay at rest until an outside force is exerted on the object. When i have to be frozen during a scene, I am at rest. i stay at rest until I walk, or dance, or sing. These actions are the outside force. So until i do move, I stay frozen, or at rest. Newton's Laws of Motion can apply to many everyday life activities, this is just one example.

  18. Newton's Third Law of Motion applies to something I do almost every day. The Third Law of Motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When I type on the computer, this law is in effect. When I use a force when pressing down on the different keys, the equal and opposite force is when the key comes back up once I take the force off of the key.

This occurs when I skate because the wheels remain spinning until I use an outside force to stop it so that it no longer moves.

  20. I used Newton's first law when I throw a football to somebody. The football keeps moving through and then hits the ground due to gravity. If the ball hits the ground, it continues to roll in its unpredictable pattern before friction causes it to come to a complete stop. If a someone catches the ball, the ball itself isn't in motion anymore and has come to stop due to an outside force of the receiver of the pass. Essentially, the football is still in motion before an outside force puts the ball to a stop such as friction, gravity,and other objects it comes in contact with. Newton's first law states that objects in motion tend to stay in motion and objects in rest tend to stay in rest util an outside force is acted upon it.

  21. I use Newton's first law whenever I go on the bus. The bus starts moving, and it doesn't stop until the brakes are pushed on, forcing more friction upon the tires, until the entire bus has come to a complete stop. Then, whenever all of the kids the bus needed to pick up get picked up, the wheels start turning and the object, the bus in this case, starts to move once again. In conclusion, getting on the bus is a daily activity that I do Monday-Friday that applies Newton's first law.

  22. Almost everyone has driven a car or rode in a car . Newtons first law of motion applies to the daily activity of driving. Newtons first law states an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. The wheels of a car want to continue rolling once they have begun moving but when the driver pushes on the brakes it causes the wheels to slow down and eventually stop. The driver pushing on the brakes is an example of an outside force. Also, when the driver turns the steering wheel causing the wheels to change direction the car is no longer traveling in the same direction that it once was. This is another example of an outside force that causes the speed and/or direction to change. So, driving a car is one activity where Newton's first law of motion can be applied.

  23. In my everyday actions, Newton’s Laws of Motion occur. One thing I do every day is picking up something; whether it is a book, a jacket, or anything. Newton's first law of motion, an object in motion will stay in motion, while an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by another force is a common occurrence when picking an object up. In school, my books will remain on my desk as long as no outside force acts upon it; which related to the 1st law saying an object at rest will remain at rest. Then one way it will move is when I as an outside force picks it up; which related to the 1st law saying that unless acted upon by another force. Another example would be in Gym when playing sports involving a ball. When the ball goes out of bounce, it would roll and roll away from the area we're playing until it automatically stops, or gets stop by a student or the wall.

  24. Newton's first law applies to my life through soccer. An example of the first part of Newton's first law, any object at rest will stay at rest, is when the ball is sitting still on the field before a goal kick and doesn't move. An example of the second part of Newton's first law, and any object in motion with stay in motion unless acted upon by a force, is when the ball was kicked, it starts to slow down in speed because of the wind, which is the force being applied to the ball. The wind is applying friction to the ball, causing it to slow down. Overall I'd have to say that Newton's first law does apply to my life.

  25. Newton's second law of motion can apply to just about anything you proceed in doing throughout the day. One thing that the law applies to is something I do five days a week, riding the school bus. Newton's second law motion can apply to riding a bus because the bus has a greater mass then just a regular car, so since it has a greater mass the bus will take more force to accelerate then a regular car would need.

  26. We all use at least one of Newton's laws in our everyday life. I use Newton's 1st law pretty much everyday. When I am walking through the hallways in school, since the hallways are flat, I have to put more strength into walking to get to class faster. While, if I am going to gym, I don't have to do that since that hallways has a slope going down. An example of Newton's 3rd law that I may use is when I throw a ball(rubber), it would keep bouncing before it'd come to a complete stop.

  27. Newton's Laws of Motion applies to daily activities. Newton's 3rd Law of Motion states that every action has an equal or opposite reaction. An example would be sitting down on a rolling chair to do homework. So, when I sit down to do my homework, the amount of force being applied to the chair is making it go the opposite direction.

I can apply this to my life because when I place my bookbag on the floor it stays in the same position until I come to get it in the morning. I would be the outside force.

  29. I use Newton's 2nd law in soccer. When my team and I take turns kicking the soccer ball into the net some of us must kick it with more force. This is a result of our mass. Take this for example, an adult and a child. The adult has more mass to move to get over the soccer ball to kick it where as the child does not so it is a lot easier for them although they may not kick it as hard(skill is a key). Overall if you have more mass you need more force to kick the soccer ball.

  30. Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest, while an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by some outside force. I use this law during soccer, more specifically, while taking a kick. The ball remains motionless until your foot comes in contact with it in order for it to move. Your foot is the outside force and gravity pulls it back to the ground eventually. If it is windy, outside the ball will travel in the direction you kick it, the wind will blow it in the direction it is moving.

  31. I use Newton’s Second Law whenever I walk my dog. A lot of the time she will pull forwards and I will pull backwards to make her stop pulling. Because I weigh more than my dog I will always be able to pull her back as long as I am exerting more force than her.

  32. A daily activity that i do almost everyday is play soccer. I think that the second law applies when I kick he ball. If I want to pass the ball I don't use much force and the ball will travel slow but accurate. If I need to take a strong hard kick. I must use a lot of force in order to get the ball farther. A person of bigger mass than me may be able to kick the ball farther than me without applying as much force as I would. If a person is smaller than me they would have to use more force than I would. This is why Newton's second law applies to my daily activity ,soccer.

  33. Newton's laws of motion apply to everything I do everyday. More specifically, the third law, which states: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law applies to when I turn on a lighter. When I apply force to the switch, the flame goes up. When I take the force off the switch the flame goes out, that is the equal and opposite force.

  34. Every day I go to dance class or practice routines at home. Newton's first law applies to turning. His first law states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion with the same speed and direction, unless acted upon by and outside force. When you turn, you go in the same direction and usually at the same speed (unless you have to speed up or slow down in the combination). You will still stay in motion as you turn unless the friction in the floor acts upon you and stops you. You can also be stopped if you run into the wall (which should really only happen if you're blindfolded or something!) :)

  35. I use Newton's first law whenever I play basketball. You shoot, either you miss or make it ,and then the ball falls due to gravity. It will continue to bounce slower and slower, until some picks it up or rebounds it, or it will stop bouncing. If someone picks up the ball it isn't in motion anymore because an outside force causes that to happen. This is what Newton was talking about in his first law.

  36. Newton's Laws of Motion can be applied to activities performed in everyday life. For example, the first of Newton's laws is an object in motion will remain in motion, and an object at rest will remain at rest until an outside force in exerted on it. A way this applies in my everyday life is when I stir my hot chocolate in my mug. I stir it in a circular motion, causing the liquid to spin in a circular motion. When I stop spinning and remove the spoon, the liquid continues to spin in a circular motion. This is because it is in motion, and according to Newton's law, stays in motion. This is just one example of how Newton's Laws of Motion can apply to everyday life.

  37. I use Newton's third law when i play piano at home. When pressing down on the keys, my fingers push down while the keys push up against them, creating music. Once I let go of the key, it goes back up until the key is level with the keys that are untouched. The third law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In conclusion paying piano is an example of Newton's third law.

  38. I have dance three times a week. And each time, I use Newton's First Law of Motion. When I go to jump, I am in motion. Then I come down because an outside force (gravity) acts upon me. I also use Newton's Third Law of Motion when jumping. I push down on the floor and the floor pushes up on me. The law states that for every action, there is an equal reaction and that is what happens when I jump.

  39. I use Newtons first law when my parents drive me to places. It states that an object such as a car will not stop unless an unbalanced force acts upon it. As such the car will continue to move unless brakes or another unbalanced force is applied to it. So with that in mind we can slow down or speed up the card depending on what force we apply. That is how I use the first law in my life.

  40. I use Newton's laws as an everyday thing. The one I use the most is Newton's First Law, this states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion. When I play soccer, and I physically kick the ball, it may roll bonce, or fly. It doesn't just stop as soon as my foot is disconnected from the ball, it keeps moving. Just like it's not going to move until i make it move.

  41. Most people use Newton's Laws of Motion everyday. I use Newton's 1st Law, when I am playing soccer. Originally a soccer ball is at rest. To get it into to motion I kick or dribble it, it will stay in motion until friction stops it or my foot stops it. This is how Newton's 1st is present in my life.

In my daily life time, I often use Newtons First Law of motion more.What Newtons first law is, is that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion.One way is use Newtons First Law is, when I go to sleep at night my cell phone is a rest, until I wake up an start to use it (Motion). Therefore, I more often use Newtons First Law of Motion in my daily life.

  44. Every day i am affected by Newtons three laws. One time throughout the day is when you ride the bus. This involves Newtons third law. The more everyone weighs the more energy the bus has to exert to move. Also if the bus comes to a stop you keep moving, this is an example of Newtons first law. You want to keep moving but the bus stops so you fly out of your seat. Another time is when you simply walk. You are pushing down and the ground is pushing back up. This is and example of Newtons third law, for every action there is a reaction.

Playing with my basketball refers to the 1st law of gravity.The law states that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion unless a force is acted upon it. My basketball is at rest until I move to play basketball with it. When the basketball is in motion it stays in motion until I stop it. This everyday activity refers to Issac Newton' first law of gravity.

  46. We use newtons laws everyday. When I ride the bus you continue to move. Which is the first law. An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another force. Then when we come to a red light the bus driver steps on the brakes. Then we start moving again. But hen you are at a red light you stay until the light turns green. When you sit there and wait you are also using the first law. An object at rest stays at rest. So that is how I apply newtons laws to everyday life.

Isaac Newton's First law is an object in motion tends to stay in motion and an object in rest tends to stay in rest unless acted upon an outside force. an everyday activity that applies to this force is soccer. unless it is kicked or pushed around it will never move and if it is kicked or pushed than that applies to the 2nd part of that law except the outside force it gravity.

  48. Something I do everyday is get out of bed. This calls for many forces to be used. First, I need to use different forces that are in my body to move out of bed. Forces are acting against me though, including friction( between me and the blankets) and gravity. This refers to the 1st law because I will stay at rest until another force (my movement) moves me out of bed. That is, if I choose to get out of bed that day.

  49. Everyday I walk, and walking applies to Newtons first law of motion. As I walk I want to stay in motion or stay walking in the same direction, but a force stops me. The force that stops me is myself stoping as I sit down as I get to class. So even though I want to stay in motion/walking an outside force/me will stop that motion.

  50. During our everyday lives we use Newton's Laws of Physics. An example of a time I use the 3rd law is when I go running (or at least try anyway). My feet are pushing back while I move forward. The 3rd law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

  51. One of Newton's laws that I use everyday is his first law, which states that an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by another force. Whenever I am on the bus to school, the bus will stay in motion when it is driving and will only stop when the bus driver hits the brakes. This causes the bus to stop and is an example of how an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by another force.

  52. Newtons first law of motion and object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion with the same speed and direction almost acted upon an outside for force. This applies to skiing because you have to move your legs to go faster on your skis. Once you are at the top of the mountain and you push off you will remain in motion unless something is stops you. To make skiing less dangerous you usually make an "S" pattern. You could also use your poles to exert a force to get you moving. You also have to make yourself stop. friction is another force that will slow you down when At the bottom of the hill, but since the surface is snow it will not slow you down as much as other surfaces.

  53. One way Newton's law of motion apply in our daily live is when we stand up to walk we are using all three laws. The first an object at rest will stay at rest until an opposing force moves it, the second the more mass in an object the more force it takes to move it, and the third to every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. Also playing a sport such as hockey. The ball stays still until you hit it and it rolls until it is stopped by friction and gravity. That is how Newton's laws apply in our daily lives.

  54. A way we use Newton's laws everyday is when we race our friends. This is Newton's 2nd law. The person who has more mass to carry must exert more energy to go the same distance as a person with a smaller mass. Therefore, the smaller person would be the favorite to win a race.

  55. When I play soccer, Newton's first law is used. The law states that an object in motion will stay in motion, and and object at rest will stay at rest. In soccer, the ball will not move until an outside force (a soccer player) kicks it. Then the ball will continue to move until another outside force (player) stops it. That is how soccer uses the first law.

  56. Newton's laws tend to occur in our everyday lifestyle. Since I am a clumsy person, Newton's first law tends to apply to me. Say I fell, tripping over something, etc. When I am falling, I am in motion until the outside force, being whatever surface I land on, stops me and puts my body temporarily at rest. The third law also slips in here because when you have fallen on the ground, the ground is pushing back up at you while you are applying force to the ground.

Also, when you push against a wall, the wall pushes back on you. These are both examples of equal and opposite forces.

  59. Newtons three laws of motion appear almost everyday in my life. For instance, Newtons first law of motion, objects in motion tend to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest unless it is altered by an outside force. This law appears constantly in my daily routine. For instance, this winter I am playing on two indoor soccer teams. We practice on a smooth, gym floor. When i kick the ball, it continues to roll across the room unless it is affected by an outside force such as friction. A person might accidentally hit the ball causing its speed, and course to change.

  61. Newtons second law applies to me. A hockey puck does not have that much mass and it slides on a smooth slippery surface, therefore i do not need much force to move it. If i use a large amount of force the puck will go farther and move faster. That is how Newtons second law applies to my everyday life.

  62. When newton discovered the three laws he must have used observations from the world around him. The things we do daily represent the three laws and are made up from them. Daily activities like a simple game of catch. When you're playing catch, with a someone else, you throw the ball but before that, the ball is stationary in your hands until you apply that outside force you use to lift the ball out from your hands in motion and in the direction of the person you're throwing to. When the person you're having the game of catch with catches the ball from your throw it will be stopped from its motion from the outside force of him exerting a force to catch the ball with. Then he will return the ball exerting the same force you did (give or take) back into motion and your direction. This is an example of Isaac Newton's first law of motion. An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force or outside manipulative force.

  63. I use Newton's laws of motion everyday. One example is when I play baseball. When I'm batting, the pitcher throws the ball and I swing, hoping to hit the ball far. Coaches always say, "The harder it's thrown, the harder it's hit." This is true because Newton's 3rd law of motion states that for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction.

  64. There are many activities in my daily life that involve Newton's three laws of motion. One of those activities include riding the bus to school every morning. This involves the first law of motion because when the bus comes to a halt, my body wants to keep moving but it can't because the bus has stopped. This goes with the first law because any object in a state of motion tends to remain in motion unless an external force is applied to it. In this case, the external force is the brakes because of the friction between the road and the tires.

This represents Newton's First Law because the ball is at rest in my hands until I throw it. When I throw it the ball then is in motion. As Newton's First Law states when an object is at rest it should remain in rest, but when an object is in motion, the object should remain in motion.

  66. We use Newton's laws every single day. When you sit on a chair, for example, your weight is pushing down towards the ground.   67. I use Newton's First Law when i play soccer. This law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. The soccer ball remains at rest until an opposing force (my foot) acts upon it. Then once the ball is kicked in continues to move until it reaches another player or the back of the net.

For example, if a soccer ball were laying still in the grass, it would stay that way until I kick it, using myself as the outside force. Another example would be if I were to kick a soccer ball, it would continuously roll until friction, the outside force, eventually slows it down or stops it. In conclusion, I use Newton's first law in everyday life.

  69. I use at least one of the three laws of motions everyday the Issac Newton created. One thing I do everyday is walk. Walking uses Newton's third law of motion. For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction. While I am walking on the ground, You don't just see me going through the ground. I am pushing down on the ground but the ground can withstand me and holds me up so it is pushing me back up. Thanks to Newton, There are these three laws of motion

  70. Newton's first law of motion states that an object in motion remains in motion and an object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. The soccer ball sits on the ground motionless and will stay motionless until I kick it. Once I kick it, it is propelled forward towards the goal. The ball will stay in motion until acted upon by an outside force... which could be gravity, friction, or the most favorable, the back of the net.

  71. I use Newton's Laws everyday. One way is when I play soccer. I use the first law when I play soccer, because the ball stays at rest until an outside force (us kicking it) affects it. Once we kick the ball, the ball stays in motion. It keeps moving until the friction from the turf stops the ball. The object in motion stays in motion until an outside force (friction) affects it. Therefore, I use newtons laws in my everyday life.

  73. I use Newton's first law in dance. During several dance numbers we have to remain frozen for a period of time (objects at rest tend to remain at rest) then we move to begin the dance (the force to make the object resting move). So I am the force making the object (me) move.

  74. Newton's laws are used everyday. An example of Newton's first law being used is riding a skateboard. The first law states an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by another force. When a person jumps on a skateboard they remain in motion in the air until gravity brings them down. In this example gravity is the force that stops the skateboard from remaining in motion. Thats an example of Newton's first law being used in a daily activity.

I use the first law of motion every time I ride my skateboard because the first law states that an object in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force acts upon it, and when riding a skateboard it would keep moving forever if the outside force i.e friction didn't stop it. Therefore Newton's laws apply to me every day.

  76. I will explain Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion. I will give the example of me snowboarding. I go snowboarding just about every winter. The first time I went, Isaac's Third Law of Motion took place. I was going down the main mountain. At the very bottom my family was waiting, but they were to the side. To get to them, I had to slow down. I did not know how to do so because I was just learning. I collapsed onto the ground to stop myself, but the main action that took place was that I rammed into a huge tree. Isaac's Third Law applies because I was stopped by an outside force. (A very painful outside force) Therefore, concluding Sir Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion.

  78. I am affected by all three of Newton's Laws of Motion every single day of my life. One particular activity that demonstrates the third law of motion is when I need to get out of bed every morning. Newton's Third Law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When getting out of bed, I always push off the bed using my arms, which in turn causes me to get into an upright position. In this scenario, pushing against the bed is the action and the reaction is when the bed pushes back against me. This is just one of the many ways that Newton's Laws affect my everyday life.

For example, Newton’s first law which states that an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by an outside force is demonstrated when I kick a soccer ball. For example, whenever I take a free kick, the soccer ball starts out sitting motionless in the specific spot. The ball does not move until my foot makes contact with the ball when I go to kick it. My foot is the outside force that acts on the ball to put it in motion from a resting position. The ball then moves through the air or on the ground and does not stop until another player on the field traps it. This player is the outside force that acts on the object in motion, the ball, and stops it, This activity demonstrates Newton’s first law of motion which is used in just about all daily activities.

  80. Science can affect our lives daily, especially Newton's Law's of Motion. Almost everyday, I practice dribbling for field hockey. In this case, the first and second laws of motion apply. Newton's first law applies to this activity. A field hockey ball will stay in place unless an outside force (the stick) pushes it around. Likewise, when I initially push the ball, it rolls until I turn the stick and stop it. The second law applies because depending on how much force I decide to push the ball with, the ball will move faster and go further. While dribbling, you try to exert small amounts of force so the ball does not go out of your range. Field hockey is not the only activity that uses Newton's Laws, there are many others as well.

Newtons laws apply to all objects on earth and is used everyday without even noticing it's happening all around us.The law that effects me the most is Newton's first law, which states, objects in motion will stay in motion, and objects at rest will stay at rest, unless acted on by an outside force. An example of Newton's law is when I am in the car. When you start driving you are in motion, until you decide to break and friction causes you to stop. This is where the law applies and until you want to start moving again, you are at rest.

  84. When I spar at karate, Newton's third law of motion is occurring. Every time somebody kicks or punches somebody else, the other person pushes back on them with an equal and opposite force. This is why sometimes when you hit your sparring partner, you are propelled backwards a little bit. Newton's third law says that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and that is what's happening every time I spar at karate.
