No crystal ball

The ground below us is constantly shifting. As a result, quakes occur ALL. THE. TIME. We looked at a real-time data map of quakes worldwide that occurred within the past week. Amazingly, there have been over 1300 that have occurred in a span of 7 days. Even though they occur pretty frequently, we are still unable to predict just when and where the next one will occur. There are signs that geologists and seismologists look for to help give an indication that an area is at risk. They also use previous data to declare risk areas.We listed these precursors in our notebook.

We also read about various cultures and their explanation as to why the earth moves. Your task for homework is the following:

Complete on a separate piece of paper. Your myth may be written or drawn like a comic. Not feeling creative? Then you can write a summary as to why earthquakes happen based on our class discussions and prior knowledge.
